One Year Wiser: A Gratitude Journal is the third book in the One Year Wiser series. After the success of One Year Wiser: 365 Illustrated Meditations and One Year Wiser: The Colouring Book (both of which were bestsellers!!) I wanted to make a book that would encourage people towards tactile activities; so writing by hand, not staring at a screen, and on top of that taking up the daily practice of gratitude.
The simplest way to use the book is to write three things each day that you are grateful for. It can seem very simple but on a daily basis we tend to focus on the negativity in our lives. The things that cause us distress, or anxiety. A gratitude journal is a way to remind ourselves, every day, that there is so much in our lives to be thankful for.
I wanted the book to tie in with the theme of one year, so has 365 spaces for writing. As well as 52 reflections, one for each week, that I have written myself. They are reflections on themes of gratitude, mindfulness, personal growth and love.
Here is an example from the book of the page spreads with reflections on them:
Then there is also a monthly double page image, with quotes from famous writers, thinkers and artists that can be coloured in to practice mindful colouring and also have some fun! Here is an example:
And a few more examples of the borders surrounding the spaces for writing. These can also be coloured in and I hand drew a unique border for each page. And there is an inspirational quote built into most of the borders:
Lastly, check out an image of the physical book! It is hardback, has a padded cover and a ribbon to mark your page.
