This is a poster I was commissioned to draw for The Lakes International Comic Art Festival (LICAF). The organiser of the event had the idea of taking her favourite quote, which is also by a writer deeply associated with the Lake District and have me adapt it into a One Year Wiser style illustration! I was so honoured by the request and am very pleased with how the poster turned out.
The image will available as a print at the festival for a small donation which will go back to help fund future LICAF events. It will also be displayed around the city of Kendal (the location of LICAF) and will be in an exhibition over the weekend.
Here is what the organiser has said about future plans for the using this poster: “The Lake District National Park Authority and Cumbria Tourism are keen to take it up afterwards too as a way of promoting the Lakes through comic art medium.”
For a bit of process on the making of the poster, I thought I would include this rough draft of the poster I made to give the organisers a sense of what the final image would look like.
And here is the official poster for the festival with all the details. It was illustrated by French comics artist, Boulet, who will also be a guest at this year’s LICAF.
